The don't file anything, dump it all in the downloads folder technique

I really don’t enjoy trying to figure out where to file things from the download folder.
Here’s an alternative idea:
Don’t.

Instead,
just leave all your files in place and then

periodically delete everything that hasn’t been accessed in 6 months.

To do this on Mac, go to the download folder, right click / cmd on the columns and add DATE ACCESSED. Now click on that heading to order the files by when you actually used them. Delete anything you’ve never actually used in months.

I then use spotlight to find what I’m looking for. I rename files to help me find things. It seems to work loads better than folders.

If I’m planning ahead to use these resources, I intend to use HOOK links to create links to these files. I haven’t done this much yet though!
